Black Velvet - Bred here at EOTC!
Emma was a great surprise to find in Gidget's cage. Couldn't have asked for more, a black velvet female. Not only that but her ears and face are exactly what I wanted. I had to keep her. She is so energetic and a real sweetie. She is adventurous and likes to perch on shoulders. I am glad to have her in my herd.

UPDATE AS OF 4/3/03
Emma developed a UTI and was put on medications. It seems that she wasn't put on them soon enough though as she got worse. She started having diarreha so we started giving her fluids by mouth. We gave her poweraide cause of all the electrolytes and stuff. The first day she took a full syringe almost everytime. Yesterday afternoon, she took half a syringe. By last night she wouldn't take any. She was getting more and more listless and lethargic. We got her an early appointment today at the vet. So we took her right after Di left this morning. On the way there she started making a gurgle noise, and seizuring. Then she'd stop and be still for a while. We had her wrapped up in a towel. She was shaking and barely hanging on. She was seen immediately. She had no fever and he did a complete exam. For whatever reason her infection did not react to the anti-biotic. Secondary problems from the infection led to nuerological dysfunction, (ie: the seizures). The most humane thing to do at this point was put her down. It was so hard. I held her the whole time. It takes about 10 minutes. She continued to have her seizures until the medicine kicked in. It wasn't as quiet and peaceful as I had thought. We brought her home and are gonna bury her in the back yard. She was only 8mos. old and so beautiful.

A newborn chin, TOV Ebony, will be named Emmy in memory of Emma. Emma's mate will also be placed with Emmy so that he doesn't get lonely.

Emma, you will be truely missed. You were so sweet and so beautiful. You were Tanners best friend. We raised you from a baby, and you got the best features from each of your parents. I LOVE you and hope your struggle wasn't too hard. We did all we could for you. I LOVE YOU EMMA.
